Future Of Business Communications

1. Heightened Focus On Cybersecurity and Increased Quality of Cybersecurity Technologies

Cyber attacks will increase in 2022

Cyber perils continue to be a major concern for the future of business communications this year. In fact, for only the second time in the Allianz Risk Barometer’s history, cyber incidents were the number one concern beating out business interruption, natural catastrophes, climate change, and pandemic outbreaks. In fact, over the last year, the communications sector was impacted greatly given that cyberattacks were up by 51%.

Key threats include:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning will be major players in helping to advance cyber security this year. These technologies are used to help to identify malicious behaviour from hackers. They are able to model network behaviour and then improve overall threat detection.

2. Increased and Consistent Use of Cloud Services

Cloud services with all-in-one video solutions will be a key player in the future of business communications

Cloud services will continue to play a huge part in the future of business communications. Using cloud services rather than on-site services for business telecommunications will continue to be the top choice for companies in 2022.

Not only are cloud services more cost-effective than traditional on-site telecommunications, but they offer incredibly easy and effective ways to connect your staff and customers no matter where they are located.

Unified communications will continue to grow with technologies such as all-in-one video solutions that allow for easy setups and virtual meetings where everyone can be seen and heard as if all participants were together in the same room.

One example of this type of video conferencing solution is the Poly Studio X70. It can transition seamlessly between wide-angle and narrow lenses, showing everyone in your medium and large meeting spaces in sharp detail and it is designed to prevent distracting noises and side conversations from interrupting your meetings with NoiseBlockAI and Acoustic Fence technology.

3. Integrating the “Internet of Things” (IoT)

Learn more about the Internet of Things

The “Internet of things” (also known as IoT), is the concept of connecting anything that has a power source to the Internet.  The Internet of things will continue to see significant growth in 2022. In fact, IoT revenue is expected to grow to an amazing $594 billion this year and 500 billion devices are expected to be connected by 2030.

With so many devices connected together, the IoT is a key target for cyberattacks, so increased efforts for cyber security for the IoT will be a key concern in 2022. As the IoT continues to grow and more and more devices are connected together, businesses will continue to use this widespread connectivity to improve communications with their customers and internally among their employees.

4. Increased Use and Integration of Smart Technology

This video will help you better understand what Smart technology is

Smart technology will continue to expand in 2022. More offices will be fully or partially automated and your staff will need to be continually adapting to and learning new technologies. The use of smart devices will expand including:

  • Smart phones
  • Smart cars
  • Smart locks
  • Smart refrigerators
  • Smart tablets
  • Smart watches

Smart technology will help you improve your customer communications. Using smart technologies such as chatbots with artificial intelligence can provide your customers with instant answers to their most common questions.

In addition, online appointment scheduling can let customers book appointments for themselves and then be sent an automated text message or email to remind them of their time slots. These are only a few of the many ways in which smart technology will improve the future of business communications in 2022.

5. Using the 5G Internet Network

5g networks

5G will be another key player in the future of business communications

The future of business communications will also be affected by the acceleration of the 5G networks. 5G stands for 5th generation and it refers to the most recent generation of broadband connection. The previous global wireless standards were referred to as 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G wireless technology is able to provide the following to broadband connections:

  • Increased speeds with the ability to move more data – up to 20 gigabits per second
  • Decreased latency which will mean shorter load times – less than one millisecond
  • Massive network capacities
  • More reliability and increased availability
  • A more uniform user experience
  • The ability to connect more devices at once – in fact billions of IoT devices

Since its initial launches in 2019 and 2020, 5G will continue to evolve as AT&T and Verizon will launch their C-BAND spectrum this year.

So why is this significant? C-band is all the frequencies between 4 and 8GHz. In order for 5G to give you noticeably faster speeds than 4G, it needs to use the broad dedicated channels and frequencies that C-Band offers.

For example, in order for 5G to cover an entire city, it has to be on a frequency below 6GHz to give it an acceptable range from towers. By now using C-band, wireless carriers will be able to provide solid 5G service to their customers. Many countries around the world including countries in Europe and Asia have already started to use C-band for their 5G service.
